About your Piano
Tuning - Pitch
How often?
Once a year is good, every 6 months is ideal.
What to expect?
It takes 1.5 - 3 hours depending on the condition of the piano to do any minor repairs and a tuning.
A tuner will need to consult with you at the beginning of the tuning. And at the conclusion, the piano will be reassembled and the tuner will apprise you of the condition of your instrument.
Tone - Voicing
It’s MAGIC!
Every time I work on improving the tone of a piano, I can’t believe what happens.
The tone of a piano can easily become bright and harsh over time as the wool felt of the hammers become compacted with use. This can be adjusted through something called “voicing”. The hammers can be softened, or hardened if necessary, to alter the tone of the piano using specially designed needles, sandpapers, or hardeners.

How does the piano feel?
Much like a car, the most important parts of this amazing machine are under the hood. Over time parts become worn and out of alignment. Parts need to be replaced and lubricated. Those things affect what happens when a key is pressed. Does it return? Is it stuck? Do all the keys feel consistent, or need the same amount of pressure to get the same soft sound?
